Get Strong With Body Weight Exercises

If you don’t have access to any exercise equipment, bodyweight exercises are a good way for you to get strong. Even if you do have access to all of the equipment you could want, bodyweight exercises are a great addition to your exercise routine to improve balance, coordination and strength.

Think you can’t get strong with just your bodyweight? Think again. Need proof? Check out gymnasts. They are capable of amazing feats of strength. How do they train? With bodyweight exercises.

Body weight exercises are beneficial for just about everyone. If you think about it, most of the things we do involve maneuvering our bodies. Body weight exercises give you the strength as well as the coordination to do just that. The best part is you need very little, if any equipment.

There is an endless variety of body weight exercises. I can think of at least five different types of push ups. They can be modified for beginners, advanced exercisers and everyone in between. For example: you can do push ups on your knees, on your toes, with your feet on a box, doing a handstand against a wall, or while doing a handstand with no support.

Many bodyweight exercises demand good balance, strength and coordination. The one leg squat, or “pistol”, is a good example of this. For some people, it is challenging enough to stand on one leg, much less squat down. As your balance, strength and coordination improve you will be able to squat all the way down. Give it a try!
