What to Eat Before a Workout
Author: HyperStrike Trainers
It is important to fuel yourself properly. If you want your workouts to be productive you need energy. Too much food, the wrong food or eating too close to your workout can be as bad as not eating at all. So, what should you eat?
First off you should eat 1-3 hours before you workout. More than three hours, you will probably not have enough energy. Less than an hour and you may not feel well during your workout. Experiment and find what works best for you.
If you are trying to lose weight or are on a low carb diet, you may want to eat some carbohydrates before your workout. This will help give you energy and avoid hypoglycemia. Be smart about it, complex carbs will give more sustained energy than sugar.
You should be drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated everyday. On workout days it is even more important. At 1% dehydration you can lose 10% of your strength. If you want your workout to count, you need to be hydrated. You should start everyday with a glass of water and continue to drink water throughout the day.
If you are on-the-go and think you don’t have time to eat, think again. There are a number of portable options such as meal replacement bars and shakes. Find one you like and eat or drink only as many calories as you need at the time.
If at all possible, fit your workouts into your eating schedule. Ideally you are eating 5 or 6 small meals a day. If you do, you are eating about every three hours and you can workout almost any time without planning a special pre-workout meal.
Eating well and drinking enough water will help you maximize your training with HyperStrike. Make smart food choices and time your meals so you have energy to work out.
